Dior Homme is the menswear division of Christian Dior SA, the French clothing retailer. Dior Homme has been under Hedi Slimane’s creative direction since the fall/winter 2001-02 season; under his direction, Dior Homme has introduced a characteristic slim silhouette which has since taken off within the fashion industry. The early collections delved into the exploration of the male sex.

Van Assche’s work is characterized by attention to detail, a strong feel for ritual and the exacting depiction of a chic that evokes “days gone by”. His designs arise from a sophisticated approach that breaks away from the uniformization of sportswear.

The look darkened during the Luster period which was inspired by the electroscene of Berlin. Since 2004 A/W, Dior Homme has delved into exploring the different styles of Rock. A popular rumor is that Karl Lagerfeld lost about 90 pounds so he would fit into one of Slimanes esteemed suits. During the 80s and 90s Dior’s menswear line was called Dior Monsieur. Brad Pitt, Mick Jagger, David Beckham, and Kanye West have all been spotted wearing the clothes – it is very popular amongst rockstars.

Due to quarrelling over Slimane doing a women’s line at Dior, his contract was not renewed after 2007. Dior has since hired Kris Van Assche, who has resumed since spring/summer 2008 show.

Older fans generally consider the quality of the line to have fallen significantly during the last few years. This is primarily due to a much larger production scale and Hedi Slimane’s dwindling influence on the actual design.

There are some fans’ comments about Dior Homme:
Roberto Rodriguez:
If you saw the actualy show though, the pieces that Kris Van Assche showed in Paris looked well made and he brought a beautiful change to Dior. Yes, some of the clothes here don’t look amazing, but I think that in time Van Assche will get the hang of things.

Evan Ouyang:
The aesthetic was so cool, elegant, and mostly wearable if your scarf dont fall out of place. Luster was amazing too, but the looks are not wearable.

Simon Dandy Douville:
i have to agree with u guys concerning the fact that it is very slim. Im slim but yet very athelic and the clothes fit me very well, more the pants tho i love the cut he gives them….really mick jagger style david bowie, keith richards or slash….yet very stylie, like i said i think he is the most influencial desigenr in the past 7 years….dolce and gabbana copied is slim fit, along with so many others so are now going for slim, yet dior is dior…its a way of living….Hedi leaving dior is a break, but kriss van assche is good, has a lot of potential….hopefully he keeps the slim look, that rocker look of the 70s

This picture captured from a new movie called “17 again”. From this picture, it shows two friend sitting at home. They maybe having their meal at that shot.

I just guess that the key light is from the right. No back light are put in this shot because I cannot see any rim in the two men’s shoulders. The light reflection on them are generally the same and so I guess the operator just switch on the light over the head.
